Is M.A.C Cosmetics still the “go-to” brand?
When I say, “I used to be a M.A.C addict,” I don’t even think you understand. Every limited edition collection that released, I HAD to purchase at least one product. For certain releases (the Rihanna one for example), I waited over an hour at my computer just to get through the purchasing process. Yup, I was definitely an addict. In addition, I had many, many, MANY products from their permanent line. Anything that I convinced myself I needed to try, I bought. Along the way, as I became a working makeup artist, I applied and was accepted to the M.A.C Pro program. This program gives professionals in the beauty industry 40% off the regular price of products. I was (and still am) SO grateful to be a member of such a great program! However, M.A.C is not my go-to brand like it used to be. I believe this is true for several others as well.
Before the advancement of social media, M.A.C seemed to be the “hot” brand. It was familiar and proven. M.A.C. had catchy advertising and several stars (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, etc.) representing their brand. Consumers like “hype” and M.A.C is probably one of the most “hyped” makeup brands of all-time. However, as social media progressed and gained a stronger presence in the beauty industry, other brands began to hone in on M.A.C’s market share. Slowly, consumers began to realize M.A.C wasn’t necessarily the “best” and other brands were worth a try, myself included.
Now, this definitely does not take away from M.A.C and the quality of their products. In the midst of all the changes in the beauty industry, they have remained strong, as evidenced in their latest big move. M.A.C partnered with Ulta Beauty to carry their products in select Ulta stores. This move shows they are committed to maintaining their presence in the beauty industry and making their products easily accessible.
M.A.C is no longer my go-to brand because I have educated myself over the years. There has been a lot of trial and error. I’ve tried other brands that I just like better. In all honestly, I was burnt out with the constant releasing of new collections. It was hard to stay current and I lost my desire to keep up. Due to that lack of desire, my interest in M.A.C is currently centered around the products I have always loved and regularly repurchase. I want to share with you my top five M.A.C products.
1. Blot powder (pressed)
2. Prep and Prime (peach lustre)
3. 217 brush
4. Powder blush (my favorite shade is Gingerly)
5. Lip pencil (favorite shades include Cork, Vino, Nightmoth, Plum, and Magenta)
Please leave a comment below and tell me about your experience with M.A.C. What products do you love? Is M.A.C your go-to brand or have you strayed away a bit like me?
Till next time gorgeous,
Sarah Robyn

MAC hasn’t been my go to brand for awhile now. The quality has gone down. I used to love their brushes, A LOT, however I will purchase Japanese-made MAC brushes.
