I am here for another installment of “What’s In My Makeup Bag!”  I love this product, so of course I have to let my gorgeous readers in on the deets!  The summer heat is here and when the temperatures increase, I like to decrease the amount of products I apply to my face.  I still like to have some coverage but with the most lightweight feel possible.  As you may know, if you are a regular reader, my skin is oily.  Therefore, I also look for products that keep my skin matte.  This product meets all of my needs!!!  Oh….and did I mention it’s from the drugstore?!  That means it is inexpensive too!
The product is the True Color Ultra Matte Foundation Powder from one of my favorite brands, Black Opal Beauty.  It is a pressed, mattifying foundation powder.  I purchased mine from Walmart for $10.93.  I am in the color 350 Medium Light (not to be confused with Light Medium).  The color is literally PERFECT for my skin tone and the shade range is quite extensive, so I’m sure you will be able to find a great color match as well!  Product photo below is from Walmart.com.

Black Opal has formulated this product to be used wet or dry.  I use this product in two different ways, both dry.  The first way is using it alone as a foundation to even out my skin tone.  The coverage this powder gives when applying it dry is minimal.  It gives me light coverage, evens out my skin tone, and keeps my skin matte throughout the day.  I apply it with a flat top kabuki brush to achieve the most coverage.  It comes with a sponge applicator, but I personally never use the applicators that come with the product.  The second way I use this products is as a setting powder over my concealer.  I use it all over my face to set my concealer, except under my eyes.  When using it to set, I use a large fluffy powder brush to apply.  It gives the most BEAUTIFUL finish!  My face always looks super smooth and matte.  It blurs imperfections and pores.  In short, I LOVE it.  Check out my silly photo below of me wearing the powder over NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer (no filter or edits).

This product is also a recipient of a 2017 Essence Best in Black Beauty award!  That right there tells you it’s bomb!  If you check it out, please let me know how you like it in the comments below!

Till next time gorgeous,

Sarah Robyn
